In the Academic Writing Skills class we are asked to find enemies for our research and in one Seminar I had to mention about one of my enemies when I did my research about land use in Java and Kalimantan Indonesia with The School of National Land Agency and Sajogyo Institute therefore now I am going to write about enemies. Why would we need enemies in our life?
When I did my research about land use in Java and Kalimantan my enemy was the National Land Agency in one of districts in Central Java. Why? Because it was proven that the government received some money from private sector to implement a scenario which will give them benefits and will make the communities poorer. I was really angry in a meeting because of that until I was banned from getting my allowance. My boss's car was intentionally almost hit by someone after the meeting. Time by time people learned that our finding is true and based on the facts.
But it was me when I was young. I did the research around 12 years ago. Later on Prof. Sajogyo told me to never feel right all the time. I interpreted his message as: Do not get angry in a meeting again Dini, if you find something, deliver it smoothly.
When I did my research about malnutrition in Nusa Tenggara Timur Indonesia not long after the land use our enemy was again the government because our finding was that many aids were not received by beneficiaries, it lead to the assumption of the corruption etc. I had a great team with World Vision Indonesia therefore I could manage compiling the data of the budgets which proves our assumption and findings. I could manage not to angry but I always have chances to deliver it in every meeting including a meeting with National News Office ANTARA Indonesia. In the meeting I delivered the finding and because of that one of the important participants amazed and told the forum that he was lucky he could sit next to me. So, I think I can manage not to always feel right this time.
Now I am going to do my research about Collaborative Management in Amami Gunto National Park Japan and Bali Barat National Park Indonesia. I already know who my enemies are but I am not going to share it here, I am going to share it later when I already can prove my hypothesis.
Having enemies doesn't mean feeling right all the time. Having enemies encourages us to be better.
Ijo desu.
